Christmas is a time for festivities, fun and frolics. It is also the perfect opportunity for brands to emotionally engage with consumers. We have seen some heart warming Xmas campaigns this year, but one which caught our attention is this little beauty from Brazil, which invites people to speak to the one and only Santa Claus.
Brazilian telephone company Oi have surprised children of a community in Rio de Janeiro by placing a magical payphone which allowed them to get in touch with Santa. During one day, the phone company invited children to answer a special call and talk to the old mate.
On the other end of the line, two actors from the Artists Retreat Charity, acting as Santa Claus and his assistant, were invited to chat with the children and share the Christmas spirit. At the end of the call, children were asked to press the “star” button on the phone, which caused a projection of a Christmas tree to come to life right in front of them!
The result of the activity was turned into viral ad that invites everyone to call Santa Claus this Christmas. All the money raised from calls will be donated to the Artists Retreat charity.
