Is your audience still actively engaged with your brand? Is it time to spice up your inbound marketing? Just as some couples fall into a stagnant period after being together for so long, the same can happen with your marketing strategy.

If your marketing tactics are no longer giving your brand what it needs, it may be time to spice up your strategy with some guerrilla tactics.

But first, for the guerrilla virgin’s out there, a definition.

Guerrilla marketing is all about using your creativity to come up with innovative and unconventional marketing methods to attract and retain the attention of consumers, rather than relying on an enormous marketing budget.

Here are three simple guerrilla tactics that you can use to breathe new life into your marketing campaigns.

#1: QR Codes

You can do a lot with QR codes. Instead of using them to provide people with your business’s contact information, why not get a bit more imaginative? One way to use QR codes is to send people off on treasure hunts. It’s a great way to engage with your social media audience on and offline.

During the London Olympics, Turkish Airlines used QR codes to create a scavenger hunt around the city’s bus stops. The ‘QR Flags’ initiative required people to scan a series of codes as they travelled around London, in order to win prizes. The airline also set up a mobile site so that users could see the nearest QR flag location.

The campaign bolstered brand awareness for Turkish Airlines and improved its perception by driving over 20,000 referrals to the mobile site from InMobi mobile ads.

#2: Reward Contributors

Another guerrilla tactic to increase customer engagement is to establish a “reward” system for those who contribute to your inbound marketing channels.

One example is American retailer Best Buy’s ‘Reward Zone’ programme. Times have changed for the brand, and the Reward Zone program was created to keep old customers excited about the brand’s changes, while engaging new, tech-savvy customers.

With Reward Zone, members earn one point for every dollar spent, and receive a $5 gift card for every 250 points spent. If a customer spends more than $2,500 a year, they get bumped up to ‘Silver level’, which offers deeper discounts on money spent in-store and online, discounted shipping and delivery, and time with the ‘Geek Squad’ agents.

#3: Partnering Up With Bloggers

Networking and contributing to other peoples’ blogs – while also allowing them to contribute on yours is mutually beneficial and can pay off in the long run.

When you guest blog, you are able to:

  • Expand your reach to a whole new audience
  • Get more links to your website

Get started by building relationships with other industry professionals and thought leaders on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter. Ideally, you’ll find some guest blogging “soul mates;” there will be some reciprocal guest blogging and that will be your ticket to expanding your brand’s reach.
