Twitter hits 500 million users – What is your online influence?

Hotcow's Twitter Page The growing popularity of Twitter have now reached a 500 million members milestone. Although the stats on Twitter’s official page account for 100 million + active users, and 250 million tweets sent everyday, the launch of Twitter Stories and the enhanced features, are surely encouraging social networking enthusiasts to celebrate this great achievement.

Twitter has a key role in today’s communication, used as a great awareness tool and ultimate channel to spread news globally. Users can share comments, pictures and internet links, allowing brands to have quick, to the point customer interaction, with a limit of 140 characters per update.

While some brands are clearly doing well at using social media as a platform to provide direct, two way customer service, marketers are finally starting to reap the rewards of managing social strategies effectively, adding more value to their followers and tracking back the impact.

This month, Twitter released full access to revamped profile pages, highlighting a new timeline where users can expand tweets of pictures and videos, along with new tabs – connect and discover- which analyse every single interaction and activity, creating an even more compelling destination for brands.

In today’s dynamic environment, social media platforms like Twitter can have a great effect in your overall campaign. However, marketers must bear in mind that it isn’t what you tweet about that exposes your brand. Alternatively, it is what you can get others to say about you that has the real impact on your brand exposure and interactions.
