Celebrating Creativity #79 – eBay

eBay Inspiration Shop A while ago we discussed the importance of the use of quick response technology in promotional activities. Despite everyone talking about the death of the QR codes, we have come across this great conceptual example of an experiential campaign, which demonstrates the creative potential of QR technology when implemented correctly.

Proving that mobile technology is blurring the lines between online and offline retail, eBay have taken the term window shopping literally this autumn; creating an interactive shopping experience in New York with a swipe of your smartphone.

The online retailer has designed a temporary storefront window fueled by the power of QR codes. Passers by are invited to browse the window displays, containing specially selected items from top trendsetter’s autumn wish lists. With a quick QR scan, shoppers can make an instant ‘buy it now’ purchase directly from eBay, any time of the day or night.

To launch the eBay Inspiration Shop, the online retailer has teamed up with taste-makers who helped to curate the items featured in the windows. Great PR stunt tactics were then implemented, which resulted in the video footage below.
