Nokia's ice touch-screen With the cold weather closing in there is nothing us Brits love to do more than moan about the weather. While the big freeze causes havoc across the country, a team from Nokia in Finland have created the world’s first “Ice Touchscreen”.

Finland has a great history of building ice sculptures and it seems this inspired Nokia to come up with something more interactive. They commissioned a tonne of ice to be cut and built in to a 2 x 1.5m wall. After a quick blasting with a heat gun they were ready to do all sorts of clever things with digital projection that means when a user puts their hands on the ice, imagery such as flames appears.

Billed as a “playful experiment” by Nokia’s Antti Virolainen, this concept is a great experiential activity in these cold winter months, giving people a memorable experience to talk about rather than moan about the cold!
